Great books to help kids write stories!

1. How to Write Stories  by Celia Warren; www.qeb-publishing.com. I recommend this fun interactive book for middle grade kids to have fun with tips on "pinning your ideas to the page, creating believable characters, interesting lots and cliff hangers". Fun graphic layout promotes creativity.
2. Be A Creative Writer; Tick Tock Books. I would recommend  this fun real-life writer trivia meets scrap book  of  writing style for 5th 6th and 7th graders and  through Middle School students. Lots of cut and paste graphics and pop ups make this an interactive read as well as a learning experience!
3. Scholastic Guides: How to Write Poetry, Paul B.Janeczko. Great basic guide to all types of poetry, a good introduction and a fun way to support the poetic knowledge and poem building skills of your juvenile poet.

Paris Residency Trip: Magical

Started my MFA in Playwriting and Writing for Children and Young Adults at Spalding University with a hard working  and event filled Paris residency. Lots of work, great people, wonderful reading and all set for a full semester of script  revisions, reading and wonderment!
 Planning to attended SCBWI conferences in KC and NYC October and Jan. for my children's books.

I drew this up at Stony Brook South Hampton Writer's Conference Summer 2011 for the magical Peter H. Reynolds and deliciously talented  Emma Walton Hamilton's Workshops.

Here is Pajama Boy done in orange monster fur, planets and 3-D for the Art Show! Hey, who say's books can't be furry! Picture the TV Show, Movie and Enhanced e book, Game and Pajama sales!

  

OK, so what is the best grammatical arrangement of this book title? Another concept I had and then drew up at the South Hampton conference on a blank Peter H. Reynolds book, from My Little Big Books of a Zillion Meaingfull Ideas.

 

Here is one version of the book cover concept. I like to work from Idea to Concept Cover to the entire book, at least at this time. My Visual concepts and theatrical thinking help me complete conceptualizing the whole story with action and drama as a  play or film unfolds. I will be doing a few more versions of this cover till I get it where I like it best, and then continue the story inside. I want the cover to be a bit more lively... as he does know everything, you know.
